April Student Spotlight: Raven Truxson

The diversity and inclusion office is proud to recognize Raven Truxson ‘22,  a Biology major and sociology minor with a pre-med track, and Posse Scholar from DC. for #DoingGoodWorkAtBucknell in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Raven currently serves as the president of the Student National Medical Association-Minority Association for Pre-medical Students (SNMA-MAPS). She has been actively involved in reshaping the organization into an inclusive  space where minority students on campus can be supported by providing resources, networking and mentorship opportunities. SNMA-MAPS has been actively involved in community service beyond campus. Last year, the organization volunteered to organize the Holiday Help Program at Donald Heiter Community Center (DHCC) and partnered with other campus organizations to collect gift supplies for the project.

On campus, Raven is a Residential Advisor and great mentor for first year students. As an RA, Raven actively reaches out to students of color to provide additional support and help them navigate campus. She has gone above and beyond to empower other students and help them find a home within Bucknell. Raven also serves on the Arts and Sciences curriculum board where she has been instrumental in proposing a new curriculum that addresses the needs of minority students in the college of Arts and Sciences. Outside of academics, Raven is the Commons General Manager where she has been involved in increasing access to on-campus jobs for students from underrepresented communities.
